Armed Robbery - June 2, 2008 - 1030am
Crown Jewelers
1259 Cumberland Mall
Atlanta, GA

The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 1259 Cumberland Mall S.E. in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to investigators and witnesses from the scene, four armed and masked males got out of a white 2003-2005 (four door) Pontiac Bonneville at the north end doors to Cumberland Mall. After the males got out of the car, they went straight to the Crown Jewelers business and forced the employees to the floor at gunpoint. After doing so, they began smashing out the top glass of the display cases taking jewelry from them. Within a couple of minutes the males ran down a hallway to the waiting Pontiac which was sitting on the west side curb under the parking garage. The vehicle and its occupants then fled from the area in an unknown direction.

One of the avenues of investigation we are following has to do with the shotgun used by one of the perpetrators. The photos to the right show the perpetrator with the shotgun, and a photo of a gun similar to the one used by the perpetrator. It is believed to be a 12 gauge pump camouflaged shotgun. If anyone has had a burglary or theft in which a gun like this has been stolen please contact the Cobb County Against Persons Unit at (770) 499-3945.

Anyone with any information about this incident should contact the Cobb County Against Persons Unit at (770) 499-3945.
