IMPORTANT NOTICE regarding Energy Conservation Code and Certified Duct and Envelope Tightness (DET) Testing effective 7/1/2011.| The Inspections office is responsible for administering and enforcing all applicable building codes with regard to residential and commercial construction in the permitting jurisdiction of the unincorporated areas of Cobb County, as well as providing assistance to our customers so that they may understand and meet the code requirements for their project. In order to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens in the permitting jurisdiction of the unincorporated areas of Cobb County, all construction must meet a series of requirements set forth by specific building codes. This includes new construction, additions to existing structures and remodeling. Both residential and commercial construction must meet these codes, and it is our job to enforce them. |

Erosion Inspections
To request an erosion inspection or reinspection, please call (770) 528-2190 and provide the following information: building permit number, contact name, contact number, date of the request and lot number/address. Also, for larger developments please provide the: SPR permit number, contact name, contact number, date of the request and site address.How to Schedule an Inspection
To request an Inspection call the IVR system at 770-528-2073. Below is a list of the new inspection codes for the system. These codes are also available by phone when you dial the IVR system. Also, please have your permit number available when calling. AIRS phone number is also located on the permit. Certificates of Occupancy
Residential certificates of occupancy are typically issued at the location of the structure under construction after the final inspection has passed. For a commercial certificate of occupancy please call 770-528-2051, after all inspections have passed and two days prior to your need to pick up the c.o.2013 Advisory Board Meeting Dates

Please Note:
Effective July 1, 2008 pursuant to Georgia law O.C.G.A. 43-41 Builders and General Contractors will be required to have a contractors license as issued by the State of Georgia Licensing Board in order to obtain construction permits in the State of Georgia. Some limited service and traditional specialty contractors are exempt from the licensing requirements.
