PROJECT: Skip Spann Connector (formerly known as Busbee-Frey Connector)
DATE: Tuesday, April 16, 2013
TIME: 5:00pm -7:00pm

On April 11, 2013, from 5-7pm at Kaiser Permanente TownPark, 750 TownPark Lane, Kennesaw, GA 30144, the Cobb County Department of Transportation will hold a public information Open House for the Skip Spann Connector.
The project consists of a new roadway and bridge over I-75 parallel to and north of Chastain Road to relieve congestion on Chastain Road. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed improvements and potential detour routing and to express their interest and concerns about the proposed project.

The meeting will be conducted between the hours of 5-7pm. The public is invited to attend anytime during these hours to review the proposed plans for this project. There will be no formal presentation.

Written statements will be accepted concerning this project until April 25, 2013. All comments will be presented to the Cobb County Board of Commissioners for their consideration regarding this project.

PROJECT: John Ward Rd @ Cheatham Hill Intersection Improvement Project

On April 22, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 287 Mt. Calvary Rd, Marietta, GA 30064, the Cobb County Department of Transportation will hold a public information OPEN HOUSE for the John Ward Road at Cheatham Hill Road intersection improvements project.

These improvements are a component of the 2011 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program.

The proposed project, located within unincorporated Cobb County and adjacent to the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, consists of the following key elements:

1. Conversion of the existing intersection of John Ward Road at Cheatham Hill Road to a single-lane roundabout. The proposed location of the roundabout is in the northeastern quadrant of the existing intersection.

2. Constructing a 10’ urban shoulder along the northern side of John Ward Road, Road from a point 300’ east of Ellis Farm Drive to SR120/Dallas Highway/Whitlock Avenue, and the western side of Cheatham Hill Road, from the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park to the intersection with John Ward Road, including 24” curb and gutter and 5’ sidewalk.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed improvements and to express their interest and concerns about the proposed project.

The meeting will be conducted between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend anytime during these hours to review the proposed plans for this project. There will be no formal presentation.

Written statements will be accepted concerning this project until May 6, 2013. All comments will be presented to the Cobb County Board of Commissioners for their consideration regarding this project.

PROJECT: New Chastain Road Bridge Replacement
DATE:
Thursday, May 2
TIME: 5:00pm -7:00pm
New Chastain Road Bridge Replacement is scheduled this summer to begin work replacing the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek. This will result in closing the westbound lanes for at least four months, beginning this summer.
Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction.

Additional detour information will be made available at a public information meeting 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 2, at St. Andrews Methodist Church, 3455 Canton Road. Marietta, GA.

PROJECT: I-75 at Third Army Road Interchange

On March 28, 2013 the Cobb County Department of Transportation held a Public Information Open House concerning the proposed I-75 at Third Army Road Interchange in Cobb, Paulding and Bartow Counties. The Open House was held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wellstar Acworth Health Park, 4550 Cobb Parkway, Acworth, Georgia 30101.

Project CSHPP-0009-00(322), P.I. No. 0009322, is a proposal to construct an improved roadway facility from Dabbs Bridge Road in Paulding County through Cobb and Bartow Counties to a new interchange with I-75. This new roadway facility is proposed to be grade-separated at US 41/Cobb Pkwy. with interchange type ramps provided to and from US 41. The new facility between US 41 and I-75 is proposed to run slightly north of the existing Third Army Road. It is also proposed to be grade-separated over North Main Street. The proposed interchange with I-75 is located about half way between the I-75 bridges over Joe Stella Dr. on the north side and the I-75 bridges over Lake Allatoona on the south side.

The purpose of this Open House is to provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed project, ask questions, and comment on the proposal. The Open House will be informal and the public is invited to attend anytime during these hours. There will be no formal presentation. A court reporter will be available during this time to allow the public an opportunity to make comments about the project. These comments will be included in the transcript of the Open House.

PROJECT: Six Flags Drive Safety and Operational Improvements

Six Flags Drive Riverside Parkway to Six Flags Drive

On March 5, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the South Cobb Recreation Center, 875 Six Flags Drive SW, Austell, GA 30168, the Cobb County Department of Transportation will hold a public information OPEN HOUSE for the Six Flags Drive Safety & Operational Improvements projects.

These improvements are a component of the 2011 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program.

The project (E6090) consists of adding a raised center median along Six Flags Drive from Factory Shoals Road to Riverside Drive. The project (E6080) consists of widening Six Flags Drive to a three (3) lane section with curb and gutter on the west side from Riverside Drive to Six Flags Parkway.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed improvements and to express their interest and concerns about the proposed project.

The meeting will be conducted between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend anytime during these hours to review the proposed plans for this project. There will be no formal presentation.

River View Road Safety and Operational Improvements project:
These improvements are a component of the 2011 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program. The project consists of safety and operational improvements to River View Road, from Veterans Memorial Hwy to Nichols Dr. The 0.6 mile project limit includes turn lanes at key intersections, sidewalk, improved alignment at the intersection with Veterans Memorial Hwy. Bike lanes will be evaluated. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed improvements and to express their interest and concerns about the proposed project.

The meeting will be conducted between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend anytime during these hours to review the proposed plans for this project. Floyd Road Safety and Operational Improvements project:

These improvements are a component of the 2011 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program. The project consists of widening Floyd Road, from just south of Veterans Memorial Hwy to Clay Rd, to four lanes with a divided median, dual left turn lanes from Floyd Rd on to Veterans Memorial Hwy. Traffic signal upgrades will be required. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed improvements and to express their interest and concerns about the proposed project.

The meeting will be conducted between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend anytime during these hours to review the proposed plans for this project. PROJECT: Lower Roswell Road Safety and Operational Improvements, Project No. E6020

These improvements are a part of the 2011 Special Local Option Sales Tax program. The project will improve or add 11 foot through lanes and two-way left turn lanes, add a raised median in certain locations and bicycle lanes, replace existing sidewalks and add 10 foot lanes on a proposed frontage road connecting the existing intersection at Davidson Road.

The open house will provide the public an opportunity to view proposed improvements and express interest and concerns about the proposed project. People are invited to attend anytime during the hours of 5 to 7 p.m. to review plans.
