During the past two years, Georgia’s economy has been hit hard with job losses, cut backs and layoffs. This has made an impact on our surroundings that we can see as we work, live and play in Cobb. With cuts in staff and increases in work load, priorities for the Cobb Department of Transportation roadway maintenance have been focused on safety. While that is certainly important, Keep Cobb Beautiful is partnering with Cobb DOT to assist with its’ beautification efforts.
KCB will accept applications from local landscaping companies and groups in Cobb to adopt a gateway to the County.
This annual agreement will give each landscaper/group their own Gateway, a focal point to showcase their talents and landscape expertise, located in prominent areas of Cobb. This volunteer project to aid in KCB’s beautification efforts will also benefit the County and its residents.
There are only 11 gateways in Cobb, so spaces will fill quickly.

Cobb County is facing a considerable revenue shortfall which has impacted DOT’s ability to dedicate significant time and staff to mowing issues.
As mowing is considered an aesthetic issue, the current budget does not allow any expenditure on items that are considered non-essential. This is why Keep Cobb Beautiful is partnering with DOT asking volunteers to assist in the maintenance of Cobb County right of ways.
Similar to the Adopt A Mile program, volunteers will be able to assist with the cleanup, and beautification right of ways on County maintained roads. This would include litter pick-up, in preparation for mowing and mulching.
