Meals-on-Wheels Day
On Tuesday, May 7, I participated in Meals-on-Wheels Day in District 3.
I thoroughly enjoyed delivering meals to our seniors. I am so appreciative of the work that Leslie Juhn does each week to not only provide meals to needy seniors but a listening ear and compassion.
It was a wonderful time with wonderful people! If you would like to get involved in Meals-on-Wheels and need more information, please call 770-528-5381.
Thank you Leslie and all Meals-on-Wheels volunteers. Together they deliver about 200 meals daily. We appreciate what you do.
New Chastain Road Westbound Bridge Replacement
On May 24, Cobb County DOT is scheduled to begin work replacing the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek. This will result in closing the westbound lanes for approximately four months, over the summer. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction. This project is scheduled for completion by Sept. 16.
Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT) training
Disasters begin and end locally. The CERT Program provides an opportunity for Cobb County citizens to learn about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their areas and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. These classes are 20 hours of free instruction. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others when professional responders are not immediately available.
To enroll or learn more visit Cobb County CERT or call 770-499-4567.
