Focus on Forever - A Marital Workshop

Focus on Forever Registration Although the Georgia Supreme Court defines marriage as a "civil status, of one man and one woman, legally united for life," the divorce rate in the United States is now between 40% and 50%. For example, last year in Cobb County, Probate Court issued 4,306 marriage licenses, while Superior Court granted 3,392 divorces. To address these alarming statistics, Cobb Superior and Probate courts created Focus on Forever, a skill-based non-religious workshop designed for engaged and newlywed couples.

Polls of couples receiving marriage licenses as well as those enrolled in the Seminar for Divorcing Parents revealed high interest in such a workshop. These couples expressed an interest in learning about communication and listening skills, anger management, and financial planning, the four topics currently covered in the workshop. Focus on Forever is a volunteer- taught program, led by professionals volunteering their time, and is available to the public at no cost.

Workshops will be held on the following Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
