Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention Program (ASAP)
Fax: (770) 528-1443
The Adolescent Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) is three level intervention unit which provides identification, assessment, evaluation, and treatment of juvenile probationers involved with alcohol and other drugs. Its purpose is to provide an effective bridge between the justice system with its legal sanctions and the treatment community with emphasis on therapeutic relationship.
The ASAP assessment is an in-depth procedure involving both the parent and the child and is designed to accurately determine the existence and /or extent of substance abuse. The adolescents who are assessed are also screened for additional mental health issues relative to substance abuse such as eating disorders, family dysfunction, or severe life stressors. Indications of problems in this area may result in the adolescent's referral to an appropriate type of intervention
ASAP meetings are scheduled every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Juvenile Court. See Treatment Opportunities.
